Little Noses Saline Drops plus an aspirator equals Clara's worst nightmare. Poor girl has a cold and was up about 6 times last night with congestion and coughing. I am hoping that this thing runs it's course fast because she's a total CRANK!
Today to pass the time we went to TARGET. Yes, I know I am so lame, but we wandered around the store aimlessly, Clara in her super cool sling (from Auntie Jessica) and of course she slept the whole time. If only she had taken her morning nap, she too might have enjoyed the coolest store ever.

In other news...I love my husband. He's great. That's it for now

Kristal Sawyer & Fam

As Promised... Here are some pictures of our visit to Gilbert AZ today! Kristal and I visited Fresh & Easy to pick up some ingredients for a yummy lunch. Then we went back to her super cute house and cooked and enjoyed some good fellowship. Her daughter Natalie was having fun with the company. Landon was perfect of course...sleeping & eating what more could he ask for? Clar a was great too and is now fighting her nap, but that's ok! Thanks for the good time Kristal!

Happy Girl

So this is Clara this morning! She's such a happy girl. She's proven herself a morning person the past several weeks waking each day at 6:30 chatting to herself in her crib. It's amazing that she wakes happy because I am sure she's starving by that point! She has a big breakfast and then enjoys some play time on her play mat.

You'll notice the bib...I believe this will be a constant for her because she continues to be a consistent puker! Of course, she never spits up when I have the bib on her.

We're visiting our friend Kristal from APU today. She has a daughter named Natalie (2) and a son named Landon (2 months) so I'll post photos if I remember to take them!

Feeding & Teething

So today I gave Clara some banana's mixed with formula. Yummy! She actually enjoyed it. It was just a few spoonfuls but it was fun to see her reaction to tasting something different. I have been trying to keep her very busy and distracted since she's teething. Poor thing has been running a fever on and off for 2 weeks now...today being the highest. I am sure it's teething because she has no other symptoms and as long as I am playing / interacting / cuddling her she's totally fine. Oh the joys of getting teeth. Aren't you glad we don't remember doing that?

I continue to nurse Clara using the Lact-aid (http://www.lact-aid.com/) every three hours but I am debating on whether or not to drop one feeding and giving her more solids...I will probably wait another 4 weeks though to do that. She seems fine and isn't waking at night for hunger...in fact she never wakes at night wich is an amazing thing for me!

We are going to be enjoying some family time tonight with the Maurers at the Fish Market. Hopefully our little doll will be feeling better so we can enjoy the meal!

Enjoy the photo of Clara last Saturday having some cuddle time in the morning. She likes mom and dads bed! She really is getting some chubby cheeks

So I have never put Clara in a bow...but I had forgotten I had these from Grandma Joy so I tried them out this morning...her head is a little big, she definitely had some indents from the bow! But as much as I hate to admit it, I think she looks pretty cute. Off to Wal-Mart today to buy storage bins for all of the clothes she's out grown. So much fun. I had trouble with my picasa collage today. Someday I'll figure out how not to hide parts of the photos!

And then there were 3

Clara finally met her uncle Eric! And Aunt Christy but I don't have a photo of them together last night. Owen is the oldest of 4 boys and we have been waiting anxiously for her to meet her "3rd" uncle.
She looks pretty content and happy to meet this new friend! Eric was even so kind to hold Clara as she ate some rice cereal...not a clean task for sure.
Eric and Christy are in town for a week from Ohio. Welcome to Phoenix with our first 109 day!

Belated Birthday Wishes!

I realize tonight that Owen and I both forgot Joy's (owen's mom) Birthday! So sorry Joy! We are so blessed to have you right near us to love and care for your first grandchild. We are so excited that you are excited about having her in your life. Thanks for always giving us your attention and for already being a wonderful grandma to Clara!

I will also say it's mostly because of you (and of course partly because of Tom) that we have such an amazing family...thank you for investing endlessly in your son Owen. I will benefit from your hard work for the rest of my life...and so will our children. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Grandma Dort

Yesterday Owen, Clara and I had the privilage of celebrating Grandma Dort's 80th Birthday. We are blessed to have your spunky self in our lives Grandma. Notice the eyebrows in the second picture...ummm yeah that's where Owen got his eyebrows and where Clara get's hers! Love it!

Catching Up

This is our trip to Sacramento the last week of April. We had a lot of fun introducing our kids to their great grandparents and visiting with our parents. My older sister Rachael and I braved travel with 3 kids by ourselves. It was fun but we were definitely glad to be back with our hubbies and our baby gear.

Masterpiece

So why the name Maurer Masterpiece?

"Oh Lord You have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise. You percieve my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in-behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me...For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well..." Psalm 139:1-4/ 13-14

I find our life far from perfect. There is always room for improvement! I believe though that we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139). I ask for contentment in my current situation and I pray that the Lord will continue to show me how my life is a beautiful masterpiece of His ultimate design. As recently becoming a mother, I see that God perfectly created Clara...as were Owen and I and each thing He created. The verse above seems even more real to me as I realize that each detail of our life is perfectly formed by God for us to cast glory towards Him. So although things don't look perfect, I don't say all of the right things at the right times, I don't even have perfect thoughts! (for those of you who know me well you know that is true!) but I do know that my life right now right here is a masterpiece of God's design. I hope you enjoy reading about it and seeing little snapshots of our family.

Hello Blog World

Now that I finally have a blog...it's time to get all things caught up!
This is my family. Owen and I were married on June 26, 2004 and the Lord blessed us with Clara Joy born on December 17, 2007
I am creating this blog to help point out the glory of the Lord in our daily lives. I'll share joys of our lives as appropriate for public domain!
I am excited most of all to share the excitement of our growing daughter, the love Owen and I share together and the lessons we learn on a daily basis.
