Baby Boy

So we're just about to hit the 5 week mark and I can hardly believe how Judah is growing and changing. I am doing my best to get out the camera and take shots here and there. This is today after a really great nursing, he was fed and sort of "milk drunk"...I like him that way. He's been eating a lot, yesterday was by far the most dificult day so far. He nursed every 2 hours for about 24 hours and I was wiped out after that...he slept from 10 pm - 4 am last night though so I guess it was worth it. Poor Clara was bored out of her mind yesterday! He seems to have a gas problem in the evenings. I wouldn't say colic (that dreaded word) but definitely a fuss bucket in the evenings. He's still rock'n the fauxhawk which we get comments on all the time when we're out!

In other non-baby news, we're celebrating our 5 year anniversary on Friday. I can hardly believe it. more on that later since the in-laws are coming back in town and are anxious to steel our kiddos! Owen and I will have some time just by ourselves and also just with Judah!

18 Months and 4 Weeks

This just about sums it up.

We had the kiddos "Well Baby Check" yesterday. I have to say I felt pretty proud of myself for managing two children for 2 hours out without major running, crying, or other incidents at the Pediatricians office--including vacines! Thanks to my sister-in-law Jessica, who got me a WONDERFUL Mai Tai wrap for my shower gift. It's awesome.

Anyhoo...here are the baby stats.

Clara is 21 lbs and 10 oz. She's actually lost a little weight. She's 30 inches tall (short) and the absolute picture of health for an 18 month old girl. Things we'll work on until she's two are language development, fine motor skills and of course thinking about potty training! She's saying random words like Kitchen and Cheese right now. Thanks Baby Einstien!

Judah (aka chubby cheeks) is 8 lbs and 11 oz. Hmmm let's just remember that Clara was 4 months old when she weighed that much! Ha. OH YEAH, he also slept from 9pm to 4 am this morning (started his feeding at 7:30 pm and because he has some major gas issues, we finally ended it at 9 after a tired and slightly...ok really frustrated mom couldn't take any more!). Yes, I got 5 hours in a row I Feel like a new woman.

Oh if I could only know what they were thinking! I would totally write a caption for this picture!

A Baby Shower

Here's our first decent picture as a family of four! This was at our baby shower over the weekend that was given by my dear friend Peggy and my sister. I know Peggy through our small group and they live just down the street from us. The party was really laid back with finger foods and some yummy wine. As my sister put it, the shower was more about me than Judah! Thanks so much for this beautiful shower Rachael and Peggy! What a special time it was to celebrate Judah's life and relax with some girl friends.
This is me and Joy--They leave for El Paso this coming weekend for Tom's job. We'll definitely miss their company and I believe our kiddos will miss all of the fun play time they get at Grandma and Grandpas.
My sis & me..notice the beautiful food spread behind us...especially the cake.
This post wouldn't be complete without a picture of the kids. Weird. We have kids (plural)

2 Week Update & L& D Story

Judah is 2 weeks today! I cannot believe it. I feel like we've had him forever and on the other hand I am still trying to get to know him. In his first weeks of life he's already proven to be pretty laid back and a "go with the flow" type of baby. Kind of different from our first born!

We went to the pediatrician today to have his circumcision done. Poor guy. He's sleeping peacefully at the moment. He already weighs 7 lbs and 6 oz. He gained a whole pound in one week. Praise the Lord for modern technology. Unfortunately, as with Clara, I am not able to make a full milk supply for him so I am using a little nursing device that gives him formula while he's nursing so he gets both. What a difference it makes to know about this problem rather than discovering it when your baby doesn't gain weight.

--------------------------

If you don't want to know how Judah came into the world stop reading!

We went in for an induction on May 21st at 7 am. I had been having regular contractions throughout the night about 10 to 20 minutes apart so I was hoping that things would progress quickly. And by quickly I mean less than 3 days (per Clara's birth). Aunt Laura was our nurse again and she started pitocin at 9 am. I was having contractions every 2 to 3 minutes by 9:30. I asked for my epidural around 12:30 and they broke my water at 1:30 pm. I was 4 cm and 100 percent effaced. They were coming back in a half hour to check me again. We had just called all of our friends and family to let them know that we expected to have baby in the early/late evening. Well as I was finishing up a conversation with my friend, I started to have a lot of pressure...I asked if Laura would check me and she did and I was a 8/9! Then about 5 minutes later I really needed to push. So in a matter of a 1/2 hour I went from 4 to 10 and then pushed 4 times and Judah was born. When he came out, I thought he was beautiful of course, I thought he looked just like Clara and I knew when I saw his face that he was a boy. It was kind of weird, I just really knew. Let me tell ya, if you're going to have a baby, try to do it in 5 hours or less! That's the way to go. I felt great and ready to go home.
We didn't go right home of course, after we discovered that Judah had a Coombs positive blood test, we had to stay. It was a long time in the hospital (well it felt really long) but it's over now and we're having a great time being home.
------------------------------------------

Ok...no more of that for a while. I'll post pictures soon. And BTW, I wanted to say a special thank you to Owen's parents Tom and Joy for all of the babysitting that they have done for both Clara and Judah over the past two weeks. We seriously couldn't have such a smooth transition to a family of four without you guys!

Pictures soon...I promise.
