GB & Grandma Lynn's visit

We had the pleasure of having my dad, "GB", and Grandma Lynn come to visit for Christmas. It was the first time that we've had my dad's side of the family together for Christmas in at least 4 years. It was pretty special with all of our siblings and especially all the grandkids.
My sister Rachael graciously hosted all the holiday gatherings...it was awfully easy since she just happened to have her new custom kitchen finished the week before
everyone arrived. GB & Grandma LynnGB & Clara GB & Judah GB with Olivia, Judah, Lila, Clara and Corey...Papa in this picture doesn't really count.

Been Shootn'

I was given the opportunity to go shooting with Owen the Tuesday after Christmas...he bribed me with the fact that if I "went this one time," he'd never make me go shooting ever again. I will never understand shooting bullets in the side of a mountain--I of course had the option to hit clay pigeons or glass ornaments, large targets and other sorts of things, but who actually wants to hit something you're aiming for?
It was nice to be outside with some girlfriends from small group...
Owen said that my shoot face pictured above really turned him on. Ha! It's a good thing he got a photo of it cause he probably wont ever see it again.

Call him "Guy Smiley"

I don't know what it is about this kid...but he's always got a smile on his face.
Even when he's tired, hungry or frustrated, a smile is not far behind.
I am pretty much in love!

I have a Two Year Old!

We Celebrated Clara's second birthday today!
The day started with a classic "two year old tantrum" just because I got her dressed. See below What is extra special about this day is that it's also Great Grandpa Erv's birthday (Owen's grandpa) and he turned 80 years old. He doesn't look 80 at all! He looks just a little proud to be holding his birthday girl though! I made some cakes for everyone who came over for the birthday pizza party. Last year we had about 43 people in our house...all 1000 feet. This year we had about half that and it was still crazy! But so much fun. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate.

Grandpa's favorite dessert is a coconut cream pie--I've never made one before so it was a shot in the dark--but it turned out pretty good! THere wasn't even a crumb left. Cute coconut tree huh?

Judah was just happy that his big sister was here!
The difference between having a one year old and a two year old is amazing! Clara in this year alone went from crawling to walking, not talking to talking non-stop, sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a big girl bed, almost out of diapers and perhaps the biggest change is that she's a big sister! She has amazed her dad and I at how well she's adjusted to becoming a big sister. She has taken it all in stride (most of the time) and usually makes her brother smile big like in the picture above. Of course there are some days that I am not sure that Judah will make it to his first birthday...but we're working on that. Wow, it's been an amazing ride for the last two years!

He Sits!

Why is it that boys always get the eyelashes? I think those are from his uncle Alex!

Judah is six months old! I can hardly believe how fast it's gone already! Although I am almost to his 7 month mark, I thought I'd post his stats--he's 15lbs and 6 oz. 26 inches long and is a super happy camper (except after vacines!). He's babbling, sitting, laughing at his sister all day long, cooing and also enjoying some solid food. BTW, I am making all of Judahs food and also arranging a baby food exchange with some of the other moms I know. It's been fun so far!

Re-arranged by nature

This is our backyard after the storm that swept across the majority of our country! We losed the only tree that provided shade for our back yard. Bummer.
The storm also re-arranged our children's play equipment
and our neighbors fence.
We woke up around 11:30 to watch all the glory of the storm and we could see a little that we had some damage, but we didn't realize the extent until we woke in the morning. Of course, Owen, AKA the work horse, had the yard back in tip top shape in just two hours after a full day of work. What a hard worker!

We're still here

Just a quick post (mostly for the grandparents) to say that we're still here! In all of her glory, Clara has taken to getting herself dressed...sort of. We're potty training and so she spends a lot of her time "unzipped". This day she decided she didn't want to be "unzipped" so she put a shirt on as a skirt. What a fashionista--I am so proud. Potty training is going very well, on week two, definitely a lot of work though!
We've been enjoying our cool weather lately. The kids get lots of time outside with dad in the evening. The Wheel barrow ride is a new fun thing for both of them.

We had an amazing storm last night and actually lost the big tree behind Owen in the picture above. Owen's working on video & pictures of the damage right now so I'll post more later tonight. So Hi! to GB, Grandma Lynn, Noni & Grumpa and Grandma and Grampa! We love you and miss you!
