Wesley Turns One!

Wesley's favorite pastime, playing in the dirt

We had a VERY low key day for Wesley on his birthday. We played outside, took naps, had pizza and apple sauce for dinner. This kid can eat. He at a whole piece of pizza and an enormous bowl of apple sauce.
Clara giving her best "happy birthday Wesley" smile!

Judah having a hard time doing two things at once, smiling and swinging

I tried to spend most of the day holding Wesley as I am nursing my own denial that my baby is one. He really wanted nothing to do with that since he's more interested in practicing walking! Now the series of pictures from his first cake eating are awesome. I have never seen anything like it...Clara was rather timid when she ate her cupcake and it was a sheer miracle that Judah even tasted the frosting. Wesley, well he was a whole other story.
Ohh that looks good.

entranced by the flame

The first dainty taste

being dainty is for girls. Let's go for it

This is fun

Let's get 'er done. Double fist it baby

Ta Da!

That's one full belly!
We actually were able to get a family picture. That's a miracle in and of itself. We had a very great day celebrating Wesley. Although we didn't do a traditional first birthday party, this day was very special for me (lets be honest, Wes really has no idea what it's like to have a birthday what he's getting or what he's missing) because this is the first time that we've not been pregnant or trying to get pregnant with the next baby. I am in no rush to end his baby days and am soaking up each second of his sweet baby--almost toddler hood. Thank you God for this sweet blessing, the joy of our lives, and this loving, fun, and laughable baby brother!

All About Wesley

Oh my, Wesley turns 1 next week. I am in denial. This is the first "first birthday" that we've experienced that we are not preggers with our next one. It's a weird feeling, usually I am rushing the baby-hood out the door knowing that the next one will be filling the shoes...I am usually contemplating when we will be transitioning to the big kid bed, encouraging walking (or in Clara's case any movement at all), packing up the bottles and going cold turkey to the sippy cup, encouraging self feeding and a whole myriad of other "one year milestones". This time around it's much more gradual. I am savoring each morning that I have to still give Wesley a bottle, celebrating that I still get to wear him in the sling because he's not walking (but he's closer than any other babe we've had at one...go figure) and just loving up every last second of his first year. It's bitter sweet for sure!
I have always introduced Wesley as the easiest everyone we meet. My second line is always "he's God's mercy in a little package. Having our third could have been a lot worse!". It's so true though and for this Owen and I praise the Lord every day. Wesley meshed into our family so well--not that there hasn't been adjustment or hard days, but God was merciful to us when He created this chill laid back little guy! I cannot wait to see how that continues in life.
Now a family of 5

Wesley at around 8 weeks

Happiest baby ever

True sweetness

Truly turning into a toddler, he looks SO much like Judah!
Looking back at that first picture, it's hard to believe there was a time that Wesley was not a part of our family, we did not know him or have the joy of his life in our daily life. I hardly remember those days, well I do, but I don't remember what they felt like. Love this little guy and we are so thankful that God chose us to parent him, love him, raise him and point him to Christ every day! Happy Birthday little Wessey Woo!

An oldie but a goodie

Clara, 1 year
Judah, 1 year (with uncle Andy)
It is so hard to believe that in a few short weeks I'll be adding a picture of Wesley to the 1 year club. Oh man! It's going by so fast.
